HEADS UP: Revised Federal Rules of Evidence Now In Effect

A quick reminder. It’s Dec. 1 and that means that the restyled Federal Rules of Evidence are officially in effect. I myself had forgotten this … so, you can imagine my surprise when I pulled up 702 on Cornell’s LII site and saw the new language. For the first thirty-seconds, I was convinced that the site had been hacked.

Do remember that the revisions are not meant to have any substantive effect on the rules though some commentators have suggested substance is changed nevertheless. For my two cents worth though, the new wording is generally a lot less cumbersome.
